Beauty and the Boboli

If you happen to have some spare time in Florence, I highly recommend going to the Boboli Gardens. There are so many different winding pathways, it is so easy to get lost (purposely) for hours. If you’re a runner I highly suggest lacing up your sneakers and running through the gardens.

I went on a day that was not particularly warm, and things were not in full bloom, so I can only imagine what the gardens must look like on a day like today, warm and sunny.

The gardens are located on the opposite side of the Arno as the Duomo and the rest of the city center. As you keep traveling up the gardens (it is a little bit of a hike, be warned), the view of the city center gets better and better. Once you get to the highest point you can look one way and see the Duomo, Bell Tower, and other churches and synagogues. If you turn the other way you see the Apennine mountain ranges. The 360 degree view of Florence it pretty hard to beat.

Sometimes words just don’t do justice just how pretty and peaceful something is. This happens to be one of those times. Take an hour or two on a warm day and explore the Gardens.
